Inter-Parish Bowling Tournament 230406
9:07 PM
The Title Says it all Actually But There were lessons I learnt just by being a camera-woman-of-the-day to just being a spectator and a cheerer. haha.. The first round was Migrants Bowling Tournament which started around 10am, made me realised that there are a lot of filipinos around. Not just talented in the arena of professionals but also in the line of sports here in Singapore. Eesh. Thing is, my mom's group, (she's the leader and mentor of the 3 teams. the first 2 teams were migrant played this morning) is in lane 21 and 25. Yea, separated. What caught my attention was lane 20. All are HOT ladies, hahaha... and are really good bowlers. Ive noticed that 'cause the 4 players are all geared up immaculately from shoes to even the metalic gloves, their balls too are personalised and each of them wore the same shirt like every one does as a form of team spirit. The way those ladies move across each lane throwing their bowling balls were impecable and neat. Heh! sheezee-meanie.. (yep, theyre filipinos alright) I was simply walking around talkin pics as I wish. Even stood at the farthest end of the lane where the pins were, out of the 32 lanes available just so I cud get quality pictures. I know I distracted some bowlers who seem to me are camera-shy-beings. Soon enough, my mom's 21 lane was in trouble with another parish. wahahaha! Kasi naman, the other parish whom they share the computer with doesnt follow the arrows that shows in the screen. Scandal. Hahaha... I took pics of that too! Boy, I was laughin away mischievously seeing my mom and her members panicky waving their hands to call for the manager for help and he came surgin despite his plump size. I say that's good service...... and exercise! hahahaha... Woot! he was even wearing a tie!!! see! hehehe... All was well in a 5 minutes or so and then came the emcee who reminded (more like warned) the bowlers to "follow the arrows in ur screen..." Many of the players from my point of view (oh come on, just believe me! hahaha..) are newbies babee! hehehe... most of them just goes on the line and didnt slide. They don't use the pointers nor the arrows. They dont even plan nor navigate where their ball needs to be pushed. And I reckon they don't bend their knees. Poor thing... backache comes nxt, tmrw mornin... (See! hahaha! are those pointers enough so u'll believe meh? heex..) Moments later the team players in lane 21 were all the more active gaining strikes more often than lane 25. My mom and so does the other supporters in the church were freaking delirious. hahaha... then when I came back I realised that they were already mingling with the other lane. Lane 20. Sitting close to them I knew that they were filipinos (cz of the language they tok) And soon enough lanes 20 and 21 bowlers and even my mom's circle of church friends became fast friends. W e learnt that they represent Philippines in almost any tournament held in Singapore. After the games of 4 rounds the top 10 lanes out of 31 were announced. True enough, Lane 20 was the top and the most number of pins knocked down came from that team itself. Wow... utterly amazing. = ) albeit it wasnt the start of my 'lessons learnt.' It was a mere awe I knew. My mom's team were competing with the Inter-Parish members itself and most of them were locals around 2pm. All of the lanes were taken up and each team comprises of 4 bowlers. This time around, Saint Vincent De Paul Church representatives were: Uncle Rizal, Uncle Harry and Ate Charlie and my mom. The Arch-bishop of Singapore came to grace the occassion and did his speech and prayer. He started out hitting the lane to start the game proper but hehehehe.... his ball went to the bank. Twas a good start though and everyone cheered smiling he tried. = ) Next was the practice without the pins and the tournament started. Mom's team started well with strikes and I suppose the rest too. I stood at a bird-eye-view area near to which my church lane was. It was a mix of race and age bowlers. The Migrate workers were more like late 20s to 30s. But that time I was glad to see youths my age and even elderlies. Lane 5 caught me. It was a group of oldies. hahaha... I was mean, yes, I was. I had this air and belittling them (bad Karen) but once this old lady hit her turn, they way her ball moved was professional!!! Ohman! and she had a Strike yo! Then came the next team member and wow! again, he had a strike. Then came the next, strike too! Then the last bowler, he seemed younger than the rest of his team, he looks like a successful healthy and accomplished man by the way he carried himself and represents towards his players. "He should be among the wealthy locals" as Ive thought. He didnt had a strike... Nor a spare. Before hitting the spare he gave this expression on his face that he could do the same, a strike like his much older bowlers were, but no. When he turned around, I saw in an instant that he was disappointed. It reminded me of those moments when I gave up in sch... I was engrossed so much on that lane... Somehow they delivered a message that age doesnt matter at all. I say this because I still have a long way to university even though I should have started university a year ago. It's a system here I have to walk. A path I have to take because if I were to take university in my country, I fear that I having a job is difficult let alone the situation there, what more education perspectives... My parents have also talked to my bro and I about Uni (surprisingly) and bro brought up the subject of studyin to other countries. We cant go either because we have no visa to those good Unis. and duh, forget about money issues. Seeing them play especially the old woman, after much air and belittling I gave her indirectly, I stood there rooted to the ground ever so thankful with much respect and dignity. She was a stranger but she gave me a msg to just surge on with life and savor everything while I'm (we r ) young. She was the best player out of the 91 bowlers. She was the top. The lady who caught me in the first few rounds truely deserve the trophy and medals. And yes, her team was the winner too. Mom was rank 21.. I talked with Rachel's mom too. S he had chosen to go back and study there for it's faster. Again, there's this fear of not being able to finish. The laziness that creeps out in each of us, was the sole reason I viewed much from the infos I received. Thinking back having the conversation with Aunt, I can't believe I was the girl who said she didnt mind how long she will take to get her masters, her degree even though she'l be aged. (aged! haha. u know..) I was all the more challenged when I met a friend of Rachel, Yiwen. She has no plans of gettin higher from where she is now. She seemed satisfied of where she is and doesnt seem to be bothered about her future. I felt both were basing their reasons out of present moments and not in future. I dont think they have foreseen their life in future, wat they want, how their life would be like, how their titles in present be of useless and lil power in future... what more about starting their own families. Families. Aunt told me she was okay with it because its her daughter's decision and she's a girl. "Mga lalaki ang dapat talagang magaral." [guys are all the more the ones who should learn.] I was upset and wanted to stand up for successful and accomplished women around. I disagreed with her about the things she said: -most man are not like housewives. -men want their spouse at home. -men makes money. Bullshit! Then she said that what the lady learnt and took proper education was gone. Wasted. So its better for women to so-called not learn so much. ugh Well, sorry. But that's a good point I can oppose to. SO right! Women shouldnt be just at home! Yes! Exactly! Their education was wasted (or will be wasted) and hell, being a housewife will just completely deplete all her knowledge. WE, woman ought to work and make money for our future families (or families) and not let our education go to waste. We deserve respect for that. We can learn as much as boys do! BOYS. ( boys, I prefer it to man. =P) Saying all these and having all that debated in my thoughts, I still feel strongly about my decision. I have approximately 7-8 years to complete my desired education. A master in Psycho and at least a degree in Engineerin. Perhaps go for master on that area but, math will take a toll on me. Design is my prefered sideline. Much of these said, my mom is right. -NEVER BE A HOUSEWIFE. my dad is right, -GO FOR AT LEAST A DEGREE. God... Im thankful I have this parents of mine. They challenge me. They dont ride along with my tangled messed-up winding route. I know they learnt from their life and I should too. I'll make them proud. Oh Lord, I cant wait for school to start. Sorry this entry is too long. Im so much inspired and moved.. challenged and debated, I just wanna prove to them I will accomplish my goals despite an abyss along the way. I'll come out Victorious! We all should. And so I came up with this quote of mine: "I'll See Every Opportunity in My Life as A Long-Term Basis." (feeling kulang! incomplete! hehe.. I shhould harness it. ) True enough.. even Mr Ronald Trumph wanted to hire the other lady (Its my first time watching, just wanted to know who won) competin side to side with Randal from New jersey after saying he was hired. haha!! see!! Woman are capable too! If only it was an aprentti and not just apprentice, she'l be hired as well! = ) I had this quote yesterday: Anything that Challenges You in Life is Worth Fighting For.. = ) I read that across my fav magazine: Shape Magazine. And true enough, I had cemented that sentence and was even more inspired today due to the tournament. Thank God I went. = ) I love u Lord. Thanks for inspiring me. Ive a week to treasure my last days of vacation.. and be more challenged so I can prove it... sure u can too. Have Faith... always. = ) 230406. 11.43pm |
